From the minute you step off the plane to the last few hours of your splendid vacation, you will notice cash is king in Samoa. We are still learning about computers and very few of us have credit cards let alone online banking accounts. So getting a decent amount of cash when you arrive and replenishing throughout your stay is the best way to go. We have ATMs at the airport in the arrivals terminal from international and local banks. As well, you can find these same ATMs and banks in downtown Apia and at some of the larger hotels.
Once you leave the city and head to the coast don't expect to see much in the way of technology. There are some parts of the islands of Samoa your cell phone won't even work. Be sure before we begin a day tour to stop by an ATM, it is unlikely we will pass one while we are out on the days adventures. Our drivers are happy to pop you by a local bank on the way out at the start of your tour. Just ask about the day's activities and what the recommended amount to take out is so that you aren't carrying around too much or over paying exchange/banking fees...
